Drunk Driving Patterns: Advanced Concept Research Projects
Drunk Driving Patterns
Presented with an identified and validated set of behavioral cues that can help patrol officers detect vehicle operators with blood-alcohol concentrations (BACs) at 0.08 and above, training materials were developed by senior staff to instruct law enforcement officers in the accurate detection of alcohol-impaired drivers. The behavioral cues included straddling lane lines, drifting, swerving, almost striking a object, weaving, turning with a wide radius, jerky turns and stopping, varying speeds, failure to signal a turn, following too closely and slow response to traffic signals.
